Working closely with my clients before styling and photographing their commercial properties for marketing purposes, I will discuss the image that they want to project and details of the market they are aiming for. After styling, I will capture images of the interiors, decor details and settings in order to give future guests an impression of the feel and look of the location.
Quinta Bonita Country House
Quinta Bonita was originally a family villa built for holidays. Located in the Algarve, Portugal, and set in luxurious gardens it has been a labour of love for the last 40 years. The second generation decided to turn the villa into a successfull boutique style country house for rental and as a venue for weddings. For the 10th anniversary of opening the doors to the public, the owners wanted a more up to date look for a new website but without a big investment. We decided to restyle the property to bring it more in line with their new image, whilst keeping the Portuguese charm and African influence but also adding a few new pieces and rearranging the existing furniture. The images were then taken for the website to give a homely cool understated elegant feel to the property whilst keeping the character of the original family home.
Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge
Perched on the top of a mountain in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Uganda, 2000 metres above sea level, with views on to the Virunga mountains and volcanoes over in Congo and Rwanda, this lodge is a spectacular sight for sore eyes after a long, hard, bumpy journey. To arrive to this newly renovated, English style cottage set in the clouds is really heaven. The publicity photos needed to create a warm homely atmosphere, where good food is served to be enjoyed with friends by a log fire whilst sharing stories after a long day tracking gorillas or hiking in the stunning hill country through tea plantations and local villages. The imported classical furniture mixed with local crafts and decor in the incongruous setting on top of the world with clouds drifting through the lodge give a dream feel. Together with the fluffy pillows and thick quilts and stunning views it wasn’t hard to reflect the cloud nine experience in the images. (Styled with owner Pamela Wright and daughter Annabelle). Semliki Safari Lodge
This cosy lodge is nestled in a nature reserve in the heart of Africa in Semliki Wildlife Reserve Uganda, one of the forests where life form was thought to have begun, still harbouring chimpanzees and forest elephants amongst other animals, is an out of Africa experience with luxurious tented rooms fitted with Persian carpets and nightcaps served in crystal. The photos show the decadence juxtaposed with the simplicity of the location. (Styled with owner Pamela Wright). Wildplacesafrica
Apoka Safari Lodge
This Lodge is as remote as you can get on the sudanese border with Uganda in Kidepo Valley National Park. The raw Savannah land of roaming wildlife contrasts with the comfort and refinement of the interiors filled with locally made furniture and decorations. The images needed to show big interiors to match the big skies and savannah plains. Wildplacesafrica
A Swahili inspired lodge on the private island of Bulago in the middle of Lake Victoria Uganda. The feel of the big open spaces was of a barefoot coastal retreat. The photos needed to show the comfort of big furniture to flop back into and lay back to read and relax after a safari trip.
A popular Indian restaurant in the city of Kampala, Uganda wanted to update its image to attract the venue for weddings. It has a Swahili architecture enhanced with Indian antique decor.
Red chilli Hostel
One of these backpacker lodges is in Kampala in Uganda and the other in the safari park of Murchison Falls National park. The goal was to upgrade the image to make them more accessible to everyone as a budget option when on safari. They wanted to show a clean convivial space in the images. Red Chilli Hideaway
A bright multicoloured lodge perched on the ridge of a hillside. The photos for the website were to emphasise the vibrance of the interiors and eclectic decorations.
